If you haven’t seen part 2 of Bill O’Reilly’s interview with the President, I suggest checking it out. It’s a lot more substantive than what got shown before the Superbowl.
A while back, the governor-elect of New York said something like this about New York’s budget deficit: This isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue, it’s about making the books balance.
Obama said the same thing yesterday.
Maybe Left and Right can come together around the kitchen table with a check register.
Here’s what I have to say to my friends on the right: Are you willing to cut 20% of the defense budget? Lay off soldiers?
And my friends on the left: Are you willing to cut school funding, eliminate obsolete bureacracies like the Depts. of Education and Agriculture? Are you willing to let fatcat blue states like California and Illinois stew in their own juices? Lay off teachers?
In my life, I’ve made “across the board” spending cuts harder than 20% and you know what? There’s nobody in the USA who can’t trim 20% and still be fine, maybe even better off.
Including every single branch and level of government.
